Hi there loves!

How are you doing?

Earlier today, I was out shopping with my mom when I got a call from this unknown number. I was preoccupied then because my mind was busy thinking of what to buy (HAHAHA) so when I answered the call, I wasn’t able to digest everything that was being said to me. All I can remember is that the girl who called me told me that their company is looking for competent people who can help in their business. She asked me to confirm if I am a student and when I said yes she clarified that what she was offering was a part-time job so I didn’t have to worry about anything. She set an appointment for me to meet her and she said that based on how I talk over the phone, she expects me to be formal so I was asked to go later this week in a smart casual attire and on time, blah blah blah blah. I really wasn’t interested in whatever they were offering me but at the back of my head, I had the feeling this was a scam so I didn’t let go of them because I wanted to play sleuth. HAHAHA.

To cut the long story short, after we talked, I forgot her name (idk if she gave it to me and I just forgot ’cause of my preoccupation or if she really didn’t give it to me) and the company’s as well so I texted her and asked her. She then called me and said she wasn’t able to receive the entirety of my message so she asked me what I texted her. Trying not to be rude, I just asked her what the name of their company is. She gave me a name, which, after just a few seconds I forgot again! HAHAHAHAHA. Perhaps a proof of it being insignificant?

After our second talk, she messaged me the directions to their office with “-Ms. Zanganeh” at the end. By then I was able to clear my hazy mind and process what happened. I started feeling iffy about it and I asked her how she got my number. She told me she got it from their HR department’s online recommendations. When I asked for their website, she didn’t reply anymore. As soon as I got back to the hotel room, I immediately turned on my laptop because the desire to uncover these cheats was nagging at me. And, after typing just a few combinations of keywords, I finally got the answer I was looking for.

I am right! Totally right! Apparently, they’ve been at this for some time now, targeting students mostly from Ateneo, UP or La Salle and also others who are already working. The woman I talked to spoke good English but somehow I was still able to sense that there was something wrong about the whole thing. And her not giving me pertinent information was also something that strengthened my doubt. The Nancy Drew in me is really happy because I was able to best those liars! HAHA

(I read Nancy Drew as a kid, okay. HAHA. She’s the best sleuth for me. :P)

So there guys, I just wanted to warn you all in case something similar happens to you. Beware of scams!

xx,
