5 Friends Everyone Should Have :)

Hey there loves! ๐Ÿ˜€

Did you guys miss me? :>

I’m back from my almost-two-weeks-long-unannounced-hiatus. HAHAHA. I hope you did well during the whole time I wasn’t able to post anything. Anyways, the reason why I wasn’t able to write anything for sooo long is because I’ve been so occupied by OrSem and I’m really really tired to the point where I couldn’t muster enough strength to write because I just wanted to sleep. HAHA. But it was all worth it, if only to see the beautiful smiles on the freshmen’s faces during Salubong.

For today’s blog entry, I’m actually just going to do a re-post from the Lifestyle section of Yahoo! UK & Ireland ’cause that’s where I’m subscribed to. I know, might be weird ’cause I’m too far but that’s actually the default setting of my laptop. ๐Ÿ˜›

5 Friends Everyone Should Have. Which one are you? ๐Ÿ˜€

They say that friends are the family we choose for ourselves, and choosing the right friends can significantly improve your life in many ways. In terms of friendship, quality is more important than quantity, and it is important to surround yourself with the right people to boost your happiness. Here are the five types of friends everyone should have.

The agony aunt or uncle
The agony aunt or uncle is the perfect person to have onboard when you are facing a crisis – no matter how big or small. If you need some advice, or just a listening ear, this is your guy or girl! Not only is this friend happy to sit and listen to all your problems without passing judgement, but they know exactly when to butt in with advice, and the advice they do give is usually peppered with love.

Furthermore, you can call this friend any time day or night with your problems, safe in the knowledge you’re reaching a sympathetic and willing ear. With this friend by your side, you can sail effortlessly through all of life’s crises, without ever having to paddle alone in the murky depths of despair. Just don’t forget to offer up your ear and repay the favour from time to time!

The laugh-a-minute mate
The party pal, the group comedian, the life and soul of the party… We all know one of these people – or if you don’t, you should. The laugh-a-minute-mate is that person who never fails to cheer you up and get you laughing, no matter what you’re going through. Whether you’re on a night out, travelling the globe or just sat watching TV, this friend will make sure you always have a great time.

While this friend is spontaneous and fun, it’s best to bear in mind that they may not the best person to go crying to with your problems, as they will most likely make a joke about your breakup and may be far too busy partying to answer that 3am call. However, a little distraction is often what you need, so if you need to take a break from life’s stresses, try giving this friend a call.

The painfully honest pal
Although complete, uncensored honesty is not always welcome, sometimes it is necessary if it will only save you further pain along the road. This truthful pal may not always tell you what you want to hear, but they will usually tell you what you need to know. The key thing with this friend is that there is no malice behind their truthfulness; they are genuinely trying to help.

If you want an honest opinion on whether that person you’ve had your eye on really fancies you, whether you should dump your latest fling, or how you should deal with a tricky situation, this is the friend to go to. This is a great person to have around when you are facing a big decision, and equally good for advice on your fashion decisions – so long as your ego can take it.

The finishes-your-sentences friend
Sometimes in life you come across a person so completely on your wavelength you could have been separated at birth. This is that friend. The finishes-your-sentences friend does exactly what they say on the tin; they know you inside out, you share the same random interests, and they always know exactly what you’re talking about – even when you don’t.

Maybe you’ve known this person for years, or maybe you just clicked instantly. Regardless, this is a true friend; the person you feel most comfortable with and can really be yourself around. You know you can relax with this friend and that they’re never going to judge what you say – in fact, they were probably just thinking the same thing.

The inspirational motivator
Otherwise known as Little Miss or Mr Perfect, the inspirational motivator makes you feel inspired and infuriated in pretty equal measures. The likelihood is this friend is thriving in some area in which you are lacking. Perhaps they have a better job than you or they earn more money; maybe they have a better social life; or perhaps you feel they have better values than you.

Yes, this friend can definitely be annoying at times, but they can also encourage you to reach higher, do better, and live a fuller life if – instead of feeling jealous – you use their success to inspire and motivate your own. The key thing about the motivator is that they should never make you feel bad about your own life, but kindly encourage you to make the most of it, all for your own good.

That’s it for tonight guys! Which friend are you? Share! ๐Ÿ˜€

Stand Up, Speak Up: Esquired!

Hi loves! ๐Ÿ˜€

How’ve you been?

I haven’t been posting regularly of late, and that’s because the first term is much more hectic than the summer term, when I started this blog. But don’t you worry because I’ll find time in between juggling acads and org stuff to bring you different topics to talk or read about. ๐Ÿ˜‰

What do you have for us today?

Today, I will share to you something about being a customer.

Last Sunday, Stefi and I decided to have BonChon for dinner, and I was the one who called for the delivery. I found the girl who answered my call rude. Why so? While she was getting my order, she was talking to someone else in the store and she kept on laughing while I was talking. Absolutely impolite. I got pissed, but at first I let it pass. But she blew the last straw when, after telling her that I’ll be needing change for 500, she made me wait for several seconds because she was talking to the guy in the store and when she did talk to me, it was just to say “I love you ma’am” and then she hung up the phone. I was still able to hear her laughing before she was able to actually put the phone down.

That was really unacceptable for me because it was JUST SO RUDE, and I really got massively pissed! You won’t like me when I’m mad. HAHA. I decided that I’m gonna complain about the incident. So I went to their facebook page and told them about how rude their staff is and that even though they just interact with us through the phone, they should still respect us because we are the customers and without customers, no business will thrive. They replied to my post and asked me for details and they apologized, saying that professionalism is their priority in serving the customers (or something like that) and that they’ll take the necessary actions to prevent this from happening again.

After a couple of days, my anger about the incident had actually subsided. I just went on my merry way, going to my classes and fulfilling my responsibility as a Hero in ARSA OrSem. So imagine the surprise I got when, after I finished my first and only class yesterday, I received a call from the branch manager of BonChon in Katipunan. She was asking me about what happened, and she apologized and explained to me, saying the other person the girl was talking to already knew me because I always ordered from them (sorry but if you know me, I don’t know you) that’s why they did what they did, which is no excuse for them to act that way. For me, the deed wasย inexcusable. Forgivable, yes, but excusable, no.

The branch manager told me that they’re not taking it against me that I complained (and why on earth should they, when it’s my right as customer to complain when I’m not treated as I should be?) and that they’re gonna work on improving their service. She said she’s hoping that I’m still gonna order from them in the future. In the end, as some sort of compensation or damage control, the branch manager said she’s treating me dinner and that she’s gonna have it delivered to the dorm. At around 6:15, the food arrived and I wasย given a chapchae, a soy garlic chops rice box and a large iced tea.

I appreciate their effort to try to make it up to me for what happened. I was already okay with them replying and hearing out my complain, but the dinner made me feel even better. They didn’t really have to do it, but I’m thankful anyway. At least now they know I’m not someone to be messed with or taken lightly. ๐Ÿ˜‰ You don’t mess with an esquire-to-be. HAHA. loljk

What I’m trying to say here is that as a customer, you should be treated with respect and be given proper service. If anyone does otherwise, you have every right to complain because if you don’t, it could happen again and not just to you, but to other people too. But don’t just complain because you’re expecting to be given free food like what happened with me because we all know that’s not always the case. I complained to them without thinking of being treated to dinner or something. I complained because I don’t want them to let that incident happen again.

Long Time :))

Hey there loves!

How are you, guys? ๐Ÿ˜€

It’s been like, around 3 days since I last posted. Sorry for that because I’ve been quite busy lately, what with school (which started yesterday) and ARSA OrSem (or Orientation Seminar) starting at the same time. We actually don’t have classes today but we had an activity earlier for OrSem, which really drained whatever energy I have. Haha.

Sharing a bit

So as I’ve mentioned above, yesterday, we had our first day of classes. I only have two subjects on Mondays, Philo101 and POM104.

We learned that our professor in Philo, Mr. Roy Tolentino, is away for five weeks and we will be with a substitute prof for the entire time that Sir Tolentino is unavailable. Our sub prof is Mr. Albert Lagliva and I’m thinking we will have fun during his time as our prof because even on the first day, he was already able to make us laugh a lot in less than an hour. He’s kind of like a free-spirit, not-strict type of person. Hihi.

For POM, we have a young prof who, imo, can pass as a Korean actor. HAHAHA. I know, it’s funny. Having watched quite a lot of K-dramas, he kinda has that vibe you get from them K-actors. He also kinda reminded me of Mr. Kim Boram from Etude House Global. A lot of people say POM is hard and I’m kinda scared but I hope I’ll be able to do well.

I’m happy that I have anย air-conditionedย classroom on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. But I’m fearing my 6-9 classes because I don’t think I can last for 3 hours straight with just one subject. -_- I have quite a short attention span so I fear losing focus. But I hope I won’t. HAHA ๐Ÿ˜

Anyways, I’m really egzoited because on the 14th (2 days from now but I’ll actually have to wait for 3 because it’s US time) the second season of Suits will air. Yay me! Hihi. I really love this series and I just think that it’s so superb! It’s gonna get more exciting so I’m really sure that I’m gonna get hooked.

That’s all for now, folks! ๐Ÿ˜€

Gastronomic Delights :D

Hi there SPF’s! ๐Ÿ˜€

How’re you guys?

I’m really happy and thankful that even though I haven’t been posting a lot lately, I still have a somewhat constant stream of viewers from different parts of the world. Hihi. ๐Ÿ˜€ Thank you so much and this has inspired me anew to really continue what I do, and that is bring you random stuff on the table. HAHA. Today I’ll be talking about something that connects all of us — FOOD. ๐Ÿ˜‰

What’s on the table?

Last night, Stefi and I watched Snow White and the Huntsman (I might make a short review if a lot of you will ask) in Eastwood and we ate dinner after at My Thai Kitchen. I love Thai food and so I was happy that we were gonna eat there. Haha.

We ordered Pad See Ew (something like a wok fried version of Pad Thai), Red Chicken Curry, Stir Fried Squid and Shrimp Fried Rice for me. Whenever I eat at MTK, I usually order the Shrimp Fried Rice, Chicken Curry and the Squid because they’re oh so good. So imagine my disappointment last night (okay, I was only disappointed a bit) when the Chicken Curry tasted different than I remember and the Squid was not as tender as I remember it to be. The Pad See Ew was okay, but I still like Pad Thai better. I think only the Shrimp Fried Rice didn’t disappoint. For drinks, we bought from Happy Lemon after the movie before going to MTK. ๐Ÿ™‚

Tonight, Stefi and I decided to go grocery shopping because we were out of supplies. Before going to Rustan’s, we had dinner first at Cafe Xocolat which here in Katipunan. Xocolat is a hot choco haven, offering the drink in its different varieties. Besides that, they also offer other beverages like teas, fruit shakes and coffee (I think? Haha. Forgot, not sure). For stomach fillers, they offer pastas, a few rice meals, paninis, and the oh-so-sinful cakes. HAHA.

Stefi ordered Hungarian Sausage Pasta while I got Cream Dory. For drinks, Stefi got Pineapple Basil (weird, isn’t it? Or is it just us? Haha) and I got Homemade Iced Lemon Tea. When I first saw the dish I ordered, I thought it kinda looked like pork or something, but its taste was nothing like pork. I actually liked it, but I’m afraid I couldn’t say the same for my drink. Imo, it was kinda bland. Stefi’s drink was wonderfully weird though, and I think it was okay. HAHA. So was her pasta. Next time I’ll be trying out more stuff from their menu but for now, I can only leave you pictures of what we had tonight.

That’s all for tonight loves. Will be bringing you more stuff next time. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Bread, Love and Dreams

Hi there SPF’s! ๐Ÿ˜€

How’ve you been?

Sorry I wasn’t able to post anything the past 2 days, I’ve been busy and our connection’s been wonky. So during those times when I would’ve been writing a post, I watched a K-drama, Baker King Kim Tak Gu.

What can you say about it?

When I started watching the drama, I continuously ranted about how draggy it was, how long they were taking to build up the story. Seriously, I was sorta annoyed that time because IMO, they poured in too much details which were actually unnecessary. But gradually, I started to like the turn of things.

I watched the second and third episodes in my parents’ room when they were at work, but my mom got home somewhere in the middle of the third ep (I think). Since then, it was my mom who would always urge me to continue watching WITH HER. Haha. I think that says a lot ’cause my mom’s not a fan of K-dramas. Before, whenever she sees me watching one, she’d ask me why I like it when I don’t even understand their language.

I guess the reason why my mom likes it is because it’s a lot of things and it’s mostly about family intrigue (and baking. HAHA), so it’s not the shallow type of drama that teens usually like. The story of Tak Gu and the people around him is both poignant and funny and inspiring and sometimes, even annoying. For a drama to be able to evoke such a web of emotions, I think it proves how it’s not a drama to just be ignored and taken lightly.

Tak Gu, who is played by actor Yoon Si Yoon, is cute and endearing. Hihi. And can I just say, Yoo Jin is the (wo)man! She’s already 31 but she’s still being paired up with a younger actor and the 5-year age difference doesn’t even show! When I told my mom about Yoo Jin’s true age, she was also surprised.

Couldn’t find a better photo of them together. HAHA. Just go watch the drama. ๐Ÿ˜‰

photos from

I haven’t finished the whole drama yet, I’m still in episode 13 or 14. But I can say that it is one interesting drama. Besides the stuff I’ve mentioned above, the drama also made me want to try baking bread. HAHA. Have you seen the drama and want to share what you think about it or want to suggest a good one? Don’t hesitate to share! ๐Ÿ˜€

Snow <3

Hey there SPF’s! ๐Ÿ˜€

How’re you? ๐Ÿ™‚

Sorry I wasn’t able to blog last night, our internet connection went bonkers! HAHA. And then there was a brownout for like an hour in the middle of the night. But I’m here now and I’m going to share to you a new addition to our household. :>

Snow ๐Ÿ™‚

When my dad came home this afternoon, he brought something in a box. When he revealed it, I saw that it was a puppy! Lovely! Hihi. The puppy is a month and a half old and it’s a white, female Maltese. I reaaaaaally love puppies, I just don’t like it when they grow up so big that they lose their cuteness. HAHA. I know, that’s sorta rude of me! :)) But ohwell, can’t do anything ’bout that! ๐Ÿ˜›

Since the puppy’s fur is white, I decided to call it Snow. ๐Ÿ˜€ In truth, I thought of that name because I remembered Once Upon A Time, the US television series that I used to watch. Hihi. Below are photos of Snow. She couldn’t stay still for the photo, she kept on looking around. XD She snuggled close to my feet and slept in the warmth. Such a cutie. :”>

Have your own cute puppies you wanna share to the world? Show us! ๐Ÿ˜€

Trailers :D

Hey there SPF’s!

How’ve you been? ๐Ÿ™‚

I’m sorta not feeling so well right now, so I’m gonna make this post a bit short. I’ll only be showing you trailers of two movies this year which I think are interesting and I am planning to watch them. ๐Ÿ™‚

Trailer #1 – The Classic

I have heard of many different classic musicals but I haven’t actually watched one nor read its story. So imagine my surprise and great pleasure when I stumbled upon the trailer of one musical’s film adaptation. This year, more precisely on December 14, the film adaptation of the classic Les Miserablesย is set to hit the big screen. It stars Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, Anne Hathaway and Amanda Seyfried. I’m really excited to see this movie, and I think you will be too when you watch the trailer. ๐Ÿ˜€

Trailer #2 – The Action-Packed

I never imagined having a Hollywood action movie set in the Philippines, but lo and behold! This year will see the first one (as far as I know. HAHA). ย I’m talking about Bourne Legacy, the fourth installment to the Bourne series. The entire movie is shot in different locations and the Philippines is one of the settings. It stars Jeremy Renner, Rachel Weisz and Edward Norton and it is slated to hit the cinemas on August 3. I am really keen to watch this movie! Here’s the trailer. The part shot in the PHL is from 1:58-2:34.

Hope you enjoyed watching and I hope you’re as excited as I am to see these movies! ๐Ÿ˜‰ Wanna watch with me? HAHA
